It always baffles me whenever I think about the train ride that has been the relevance of bass in the music industry. Growing up, no one cared about the bassist. Bassists were considered “not so important,” which was the dumbest statement ever.
However, in the modern era, it seems that people have finally started to appreciate the beauty that bass adds to a song. It is to the point where some people only care about the bass.
I am sure you have seen that guy with the extremely loud car speakers. You only hear the bass and nothing else. That is extreme too. To truly enjoy music, you must find a balance.
If you are a bass head like myself, you prefer bass to be a bit more than the highs and mids. So, in this article, let me show you guys the best equalizer settings for bass. Now, there is no “one magic setting” that works for all devices.
Phones, laptops, and Car Stereos all vary from each other and what you are listening to makes a ton of difference as well. A setting that works for movies may not work so well for music. In this article, I will cover the best settings for your Phone, PC/Laptop, and Car. Let us start with the car:
Best equalizer settings for bass inside the car
Every car stereo system differs from one another here and there, but the basics, for the most part, remain the same.
1. Subwoofer Level (SW Level):
A subwoofer specializes in low frequencies… basically bass. The RCA output in your system can be used as a Subwoofer output to improve the bass. Switch the Subwoofer Level “On,” and now, you can adjust the output of your subwoofer. The “best” setting is subjective so adjust according to your preference.

2. Volume:
The thing is, if you blast your songs too loud, no matter the quality of the speaker and equalizer setting, the sound is going to be disappointing. Sorry, a guy that thinks he is really cool blasting music at 3 is outside my house. To truly get the best audio output, you need to adjust the Loudness. Adjust the volume till you find that sweet spot, as it will enhance your experience manifold.
3. Dynamic Bass Control:
Maybe your stereo system has this feature, maybe not. If it does, do enable it as it makes the bass much more punchy and beautiful.
4. Balance and Fade Control:
Balance Control lets you the audio output from the speakers located on the left and right, whilst the Fade Control or the Fader lets you control the rear and front.
The front speakers should play the melody and focus on the treble while the rear should back them up with lower frequencies, aka, bass. Lower the high-pass filter (to the minimum it can handle) of the front speakers by adjusting the subwoofer level. With that done, slowly start increasing the frequency till you find the sweet spot.
