Best In Ear Monitors For Drummers

1. YINYOO KZ ZST - BEST BUDGET IN EAR MONITORS

I found the Yinyoo KZ ZST to be one of the best in-ear monitors for drummers out there, especially for those on a bit of a budget. For under 20 bucks, you get a pair of really solid headsets.

First off, let me talk about the materials used in the ear monitor's construction. It is plastic, but is very durable and lightweight. That is the case here. These do not feel cheap; The capability seems fairly strong as well. Yinyoo also offers an upgraded cable to improve the sound quality in case you aren’t satisfied with the sound. 

The design is quite ergonomic. The in-ear design is ideal for drummers as they stay perfectly snug into your ear canal and won’t fall out.

They can do everything right, but it all comes down to the sound at the end of the day. The Yinyoo KZ ZST comes with a standard 3.5mm jack, compatible with android and iOS. There is an armature treble driver and a dynamic bass driver. Each driver has an independent sound channel.

All this combined offers you a clear and crisp sound. The sound is neutral, for the most part. There is an emphasis on bass and treble, which makes sense. The key feature of these monitors is that earbuds can be detached from the wires if you wish to. This can come in handy on stage or in a jam room to mitigate the sound of your drummer kit a bit.

2. MEE AUDIO M6 PRO - BEST IN EAR MONITORS FOR LIVE PERFORMANCE

Comfort seems to be the focus of MEE Audio when developing these in-ear monitors, and they seem to have succeeded. The M6 Pro in-ear monitors are quite an affordable and lightweight pair of monitors. These are the second generator of the M6 series, and there is an obvious upgrade in terms of features, sound and build quality.

It has been refined by professionals to offer natural tones, smoother treble along with cleaner and smoother mid-range. What isn’t advertised by the company, but I felt I should have been in the better low-frequency. The bass seems to have improved as well. It was much more punchy. I am quite impressed by the sound of these IEMs.

The MEE audio M6 Pro does not fall back in terms of quality, design, and features either. The cable is much thicker than I expected. There is a  built-in microphone and remote for convenience. An awesome feature of these in-ear monitors is that they are engineered with a sweat-resistant design.

Sweating goes hand in hand with drumming, so any sweat/water resistance is a major plus point as this makes you worry less about the headsets and focus on drumming.

Another feature for drummers is that the earbuds are detachable. You can get rid of the wires and simply use the buds to protect yourself from any ear damage. Pretty smart. These are one of the best in-ear monitors for drummers that I have tested!

3. SE215-CL - SHURE IN EAR MONITORS

Shure has been around in the music industry for quite a while and has established itself as a trustworthy company. We are looking at their SE215-CL in-ear monitors. These IEMs have been tested by professionals on the road for both personal and professional use. They have used these for professional monitoring on stage as well as doing something basic like listening to songs in the back of a car.

These come equipped with a single driver that offers a well-balanced sound experience, more oriented towards being bass-heavy which I prefer. The low-range is solid, as I said; Shure even advertises enhanced bass while the mid-to-high range is by no means lacking.

Both have a crisp and detailed sound making these fantastic in terms of sound. You get several ear tips to further enhance your experience, providing more isolation and comfort.

The Shure SE215-CL boasts a low-profile, lightweight design with an optimized nozzle angle to comfortably and snuggly fit inside your ear. The cable is fairly high-quality as it is made using a reinforced material. The wire can be replaced or customized as well.

The over-the-ear design helps keep the wires out of the way whilst drumming. There is a gold-plated MMCX connector with a lock-snap mechanism that allows for 360-degree rotation. This way, you can find the ideal fit for your ears. The professional build quality to withstand wear and tear, the sound, and the comfort all together make the Shure SE215 a great pair of audio gears for drummers out there.

4. LINSOUL KZ ZS10 PRO - PROFESSIONAL IN EAR MONITORS FOR DRUMMERS

The Linsoul KZ ZS10 Pro is an upgraded version of KZ ZS10, so naturally, it boasts “pro” worthy features as well, so it’s not just a marketing tactic. The Pro version has two 30095 drivers for better high-frequency performance (highs) and two 50060 drivers for mid-frequency, the mid-range, boasting the mids.

The pro version has adopted the Tesla double magnetic dynamic unit, and the high-frequency response here is increased to beyond 40kHz. All of this, when combined, results in a very bright and dynamic sound.

To balance out the music listening experience, the company has added a “PCB Frequency Dividing Board” to provide full play for the drivers. I did not expect the bass to sound as deep as it did, so I am quite impressed.

Linsoul KZ ZS10 Pro uses a combination of stainless faceplate and resin cavity, giving it quite an eye-catching appearance. There are several color options available. The cable is detachable, a great plus for drummers, and is OFC braided. The IEM pin connections are 0.75 mm along with being angled and gold-plated.

There is a standard 90-degree black rubber 3.5 mm TRS jack and black rubber Y-splitter also present. The ergonomic design of these heads makes them quite comfortable to wear for long durations, and they stay securely in place.

Overall, these are worthy of checking out!

5. H HIFIHEAR CCA C10 IN EAR MONITORS

Talk about taking it to the extreme! I tested the H Hifihear CCA C10, an interesting name, that comes with its ten drivers hybrid technology. There are five drivers on each side, namely one dynamic driver and four balanced armature drivers. It can compete with headsets that are far too expensive when compared to its budget pricing.

The sound at offer here is high in resolution with solid low-end, detailed mids and smooth and silky highs. Pair that with its in-built MEMS noise-canceling technology. Yeah, there is noise-canceling on these heads, blocking out unwanted noise coming from your surroundings. To put a number to it, the C10 cancels out noises at 108dB.

CCA C10 is quite a comfortable pair of IEMs. The housing is made from Zinc Alloy Shell+Resin, available in various colors, and is quite lightweight without losing durability. The loop-around design gets the cables out of the way if you are listening to music while drumming or running. The ergonomic design is comfortable with a secure fit.

You can even go wireless as the cables are detachable. You can get yourself a 0.75mm 2-pin Bluetooth adapter to convert these into BT headsets. Highly recommended!

6. DCMEKA A09 IN EAR MONITORS

A09 by DCMEKA are a pair of IEMs that are awesome for everyday users as well as professionals on stage. The sound quality on these is highly acclaimed.

The bass is super deep and punchy, the mid-range is accurate and detailed, while the highs are natural and smooth. With HiFi sound like this, you can rock these as your daily drivers as well with no issues. Speaking of “drivers,” you get, in here, a special armature and dynamic driver. Hybrid technology, as they call it.

Since these are built for musicians as well, they have some noteworthy features. These are very comfortable thanks to their ergonomic built and the sweat-resistant design. The cable is detachable as well as replaceable for all you drummers out there.

The said cable is also braided to avoid tangling and is rather long, 3.9 feet long, actually. There is CVC 6.0 noise cancellation as well. For a pair of budget IEM, there isn’t much to complain about here.

7. KINBOOFI KZ AS10 EAR MONITORS

The next in my list are these KZ AS10 in-ear monitors known for their clear and impressive sound quality with a comfortable design.

Equipped with five balanced armature drivers, the response (low-to-high frequency) is very defined and detailed. There is a real HiFi sound available on here. The bass is accurate and impactful, with warm and full mids and extended highs. Not to an unnatural extent, of course.

The sound stage is accurate, and you can listen to each instrument which is necessary as a drummer. The OCC 2 Pin Cable is detachable and replaceable as well. Even the build quality is impressive, which I was honestly surprised by at this price point. It isn’t much wrong with these, so definitely go for these if you can!

8. SIMGOT MT3 IN-EAR MONITORS

The MT3 by SIMGOT, instead of using a traditional dynamic driver, utilizes a 10mm high-magnetic circuit coil driver technology which increases sound quality, resolution, and clarity. The silver cores reduce loss of transmission and distortion. It has been designed to fit into most ear canals optimally.

These are very comfortable and have a decent amount of isolation. The bass feels deep and heavy; the sound overall is pleasant to listen to. They are equipped with copper silver-plated 400D DuPont Kevlar braided cable, made of a soft yet durable material.

The cable is detachable and allows for a tangle-free experience. The two-pin connectors are high-grade 0.78mm with a protection slot to prevent damage and provide uninterrupted transmissions.

9. BASN BMASTER IN-EAR MONITORS

These IEMs by BASN are one of the best in-ear monitors for drummers. They use sound isolation technology to prevent unwanted noise from the environment from interfering with your music listening experience. The sound is quite detailed and bass orientated. That may not be for everyone, but I prefer it to be full of low frequencies.

With that said, though, the overall listening experience is very balanced with smooth mids and clean highs. The comfort they offer is as good as a custom model. The in-ear design provides for sound isolation as well as staying securely snug into your ears. The cables are, of course, detachable and replaceable as you’d expect. They are expensive but worth it!

10) IE 500 PRO - SENNHEISER IN EAR MONITORS

The best in-ear monitors for drummers, hands down. No competition here. With the Sennheiser IE 500 Pro, you get fantastic control over your surroundings thanks to linear frequency response. It is equipped with a dynamic 7mm wideband transducer and TrueResponse driver system to provide a neutral sound with fine resolution and reduced acoustic stress.

When it comes to comfort, these are extremely comfortable. The IE 500 pro has optimized the shape of the earbud to provide you with a comfortable weight, and the housing itself is very lightweight and durable to add to it. The cable is highly durable and tangle-free whilst also being detectable. These far exceeded my expectations, and I am in love with them!
